NAVER announced on June 26 that it is officially launching its generative AI-based conversational search service, "AI Tab," for all users.

AI Tab is an agentic search service that understands users' search intent and context to provide answers, and also connects users to real-world actions such as shopping, location exploration, and reservations. With the official launch, all users can now easily access the service from the main Naver page via the AI Tab button in both mobile and PC search bars. Starting next month, users will also be able to continue their exploration by entering AI Tab from the chat window at the bottom of the AI Briefing.

Among the features of the Naver App's Green Dot, the multimodal search tool "Smart Lens" has been positioned next to the AI Tab button in the search bar to improve accessibility, and the "Music Search" function has been integrated into AI Tab.

AI Tab, which began beta service for Naver Plus Membership users in April, surpassed 4 million cumulative users in just about two months.

According to Naver, during the AI Tab beta service period, the click-through rates (CTR) for products and places cards each exceeded 20%. The higher the frequency of AI Tab usage, the higher the proportion of users connecting to services such as shopping and places. For example, users who visited AI Tab more than 11 times had 2.7 times higher product clicks and twice as many place clicks compared to those who visited only once.

Naver explained, "This demonstrates that AI Tab is not simply staying at providing information, but is gradually expanding into an action-oriented AI agent that connects users to real actions."

The official version of AI Tab also includes a feature that intuitively provides information on Naver Maps and real-time available reservation slots within the answer window. Users can not only check related information while exploring restaurants, cafes, or specific places, but can also seamlessly proceed from checking the map to making reservations and visiting.

Naver has equipped AI Tab with a next-generation model optimized for action-centric conversational search services to coincide with its official release.

This model is a "product-native large language model (LLM)" tailored to Naver's service environment, which sees 50 million daily visitors. It features an optimal size and structure for stable deployment on large-scale services, enabling fast response times and high throughput. Building on the capabilities of HyperCLOVA X, Naver has organically combined its service scenarios, vertical data, and user feedback to further enhance core functions such as query understanding, answer summarization, and tool invocation.

Naver plans to continuously strengthen AI Tab's agent capabilities based on this specialized model. In the second half of the year, Naver will introduce a feature that recommends customized real estate listings reflecting user budgets and preferred areas. In addition, a health agent feature that suggests personalized lifestyle and health management tips based on uploaded health checkup results is also scheduled to launch. Within the year, AI Tab will be integrated into the "Whale Browser" to further expand user touchpoints across the web environment.

Kim Kwanghyun, Chief Data & Content Officer (CDO) at Naver, said, "AI Tab is a representative example of Naver's unparalleled service ecosystem, data infrastructure, and AI technology," adding, "Now that tens of millions of Naver users can access AI Tab directly from the search bar, we will continue to expand a differentiated agent experience that connects exploration to action."
