Yeosu Gwangyang Port Corporation (President Choi Kwanho, hereinafter referred to as “the Corporation”) announced that it is recruiting tenant companies for the Sepung Port Hinterland Complex until August 25.

Eight types of businesses, including food manufacturing, pulp, paper and paper products manufacturing, and chemical substances and chemical products manufacturing, are eligible to move in.
Additionally, the biggest competitive advantage of the Sepung Hinterland Complex lies in its location. It has been designated as a Special Opportunity Zone for Secondary Batteries, and leading secondary battery companies such as POSCO Future M and POSCO Pilbara Lithium Solution are located nearby. As a result, secondary battery companies moving in can expect significant forward and backward linkage effects, from the procurement of raw materials and components to production.
Another major strength is that the complex is adjacent to the Gwangyang Port container terminal, allowing significant reductions in logistics costs for both raw material imports and product exports.
Furthermore, tenant companies are offered exceptional investment incentives. Tenants will receive a 100% exemption on acquisition tax and a 50% reduction on property tax for five years. Companies relocating from the Seoul metropolitan area to establish new or expanded facilities in Jeollanam-do can receive up to 30 billion won in local investment promotion subsidies.
Additional location subsidies of up to 5 billion won are also available for companies establishing new, expanded, or relocated facilities within Jeollanam-do, further alleviating the initial investment burden.
Tax benefits as a Special Opportunity Zone for Secondary Batteries are also provided. Start-ups and newly established workplaces can receive a 100% reduction in income tax and corporate tax for five years, and a 50% reduction for the subsequent two years. Development charges are also fully exempt, significantly reducing the burden in the early stages of business.
In addition, with the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Metropolitan City scheduled for July 1, further administrative and policy support at the regional level is anticipated in the future.
The Corporation is currently ramping up efforts to attract tenant companies by conducting banner promotion activities targeting major industrial complexes nationwide.
