He also posted a message reading, "Complete abolition of the supplementary investigative authority. Right now," along with his own timeline for how to proceed.
Specifically, he outlined the following steps: ▲ The government should immediately submit its draft amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act to the National Assembly ▲ Defend the position of the chairperson of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and vote on the organization of the house ▲ Pass the bill at a plenary session before Constitution Day ▲ Launch the Prosecution Service and Serious Crimes Investigation Agency in October. At the end, he emphasized, "Only then will the true abolition of the Prosecutors' Office be achieved."
Former leader Jeong has consistently maintained his position in favor of abolishing the supplementary investigative authority. After attending the Jeonbuk Provincial Party’s elected officials' workshop held in Jeongeup, Jeonbuk, on this day, he told reporters, "From now on, we must carefully consider amending the Criminal Procedure Act and the enforcement ordinance to abolish the supplementary investigative authority," stressing, "The amendment must pass before Constitution Day."
He added, "Otherwise, the launch of the Prosecution Service and the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency will be physically impossible," and said, "The fact that the bill has not yet been prepared is a very dangerous situation."

Meanwhile, on the same day, Prime Minister Kim stated at a government briefing on prosecutorial reform held at the Government Complex Seoul, "Taking into account the various opinions discussed and heard by the government, we have finalized the abolition of the supplementary investigative authority as the government's basic position," and added, "Accordingly, the government will convey this basic position to the party, and from now on, rather than presenting a separate government bill, we will respect the National Assembly’s discussions and decisions."
