The joint investigation team of prosecutors and police (JIT), established to uncover the truth behind the "ballot paper shortage incident" during the June 3 local elections, summoned staff members of the Songpa District Election Commission for questioning on June 25.

View original imageOn this day, the JIT summoned two Songpa District Election Commission staff members as witnesses for questioning. These individuals are reportedly responsible for managing polling stations in the Seoul area, including Jamsil 7-dong, where the ballot paper shortage occurred.
The previous day, the JIT conducted searches and seizures of the offices and mobile phones of 12 officials from the Seoul and Songpa District Election Commissions. The investigation team plans to determine how election commission officials, upon receiving reports of ballot shortages at polling stations, communicated this internally and received instructions.
Also on June 25, the JIT summoned nine local government officials who worked at polling stations as witnesses for questioning. These individuals were reportedly in charge of on-site tasks such as distributing ballot papers at polling stations in Seoul where the shortage occurred.

The JIT intends to reconstruct the response process on election day through witness statements and analysis of seized materials, and is expected to expand the investigation to higher-ranking officials, including former Central Election Commission Chairman Noh Tae-ak and former Secretary-General Heo Cheol-hoon.
