The company also highlighted GI-214, a next-generation pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) drug candidate.
GI-214 is a next-generation PAH drug candidate that GI Innovation is developing as part of its efforts to expand its pipeline from the immuno-oncology sector into the cardiovascular and rare disease areas.
Pulmonary arterial hypertension is a rare and intractable disease in which pulmonary blood vessels abnormally narrow, causing increased pulmonary arterial pressure and putting a burden on the heart. There is a high unmet medical need for new treatments in this field. The global PAH therapeutics market is currently estimated at around USD 8 billion (approximately KRW 11 trillion) and is expected to grow to over USD 13 billion (approximately KRW 18 trillion) by 2033.
At this BIO USA event, in addition to the official 'Company Presentation', the company held multiple business development (BD) meetings with global pharmaceutical companies to discuss technology transfer and global collaboration, focusing on its next-generation immuno-oncology drugs GI-101A, GI-102, GI-108, and the PAH candidate GI-214. In particular, global pharmaceutical companies showed significant interest in GI-214, which is still in the preclinical pipeline, and active discussions were held on possible new partnerships.
