Iranian Negotiator: "Agreement to End Middle East War Is a Declaration of Defeat for the United States"
Regarding the Ceasefire Memorandum of Understanding
"Not the Result of Pressure or Coercion"
The agreement between the United States and Iran to end the war amounts to a "declaration of defeat by the United States," according to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the head of Iran's ceasefire negotiation team and Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, on June 24 (local time).
In a speech broadcast by Iranian state television from Azerbaijan, Ghalibaf referred to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) concluded with Pakistan's mediation, stating, "The Islamabad MOU is not the result of pressure and coercion, but rather the product of the resistance and authority demonstrated by the brave Iranian people."
He added, "That is why the Islamabad MOU has become a declaration of defeat for the United States," and insisted that security in the Middle East must be ensured by the countries of the region themselves.
Ghalibaf further stated, "The presence of foreign troops in the region not only fails to create sustainable security but also serves as a source of instability. Therefore, we consider their withdrawal a strategic objective."
