The company will also unveil its unmanned autonomous mission system, 'AI Pilot,' and integrated control solution, 'ACROSS,' providing a blueprint for the future aviation ecosystem.
At the exhibition, Korean Air will recreate the future aviation maintenance environment through an AI-based aircraft robotic inspection system, where aerial drones and ground rovers collaborate. This technology replaces conventional visual inspections with a multi-type fleet operation of drones (upper sections) and rovers (lower sections), based on AI analysis.
This system not only reduces the burden of high-altitude work for mechanics but also shortens the inspection time for large aircraft exteriors from 8-10 hours to about 50 minutes. Visitors can observe the process in which data collected by robots is analyzed by AI to detect defects as small as 1 millimeter, and they can also experience an AI chatbot designed to support maintenance work.
Korean Air will also introduce future unmanned aerial system technologies. The unmanned autonomous mission system 'AI Pilot' applies AI technology to a variety of unmanned platforms under development, such as low-observable unmanned squadron aircraft and subsonic target drones. The company plans to showcase swarm flight and autonomous mission execution technologies, where unmanned aircraft independently assess situations and cooperate to carry out missions.
The integrated traffic management solution 'ACROSS,' exhibited in collaboration with the National UAM Strategic Technology Project Group, is an integrated control solution independently developed by Korean Air to operate urban air mobility (UAM) and other future air mobility services more safely and efficiently. This solution presents a direction for building next-generation air traffic systems, with the aim of contributing to the creation of an eco-friendly mobility ecosystem.
