At this event, the two companies completed the industry's first proof of concept (PoC) for premium collection and insurance payment services based on a KRW stablecoin.
The two companies focused on connecting Kyobo Life Insurance's existing insurance system with blockchain infrastructure to implement a process for paying premiums and making insurance payments using digital assets. Kyobo Life Insurance explained that, once relevant regulations and infrastructure are established and a blockchain-based collection and payment system is commercialized, the company expects to significantly improve the speed and transparency of premium payments and insurance disbursements.
Kyobo Life Insurance plans to continue reviewing the potential use of new financial instruments such as KRW stablecoins and digital wallets, starting with this technology verification. The company will enhance the technical completeness and security of the system in line with the development of related laws and regulations, and will also seek to discover various application models that can be used in real insurance work.
