Trump Reiterates Claim: "Iran Agrees to Highest Level of Nuclear Inspections"
Trump Announces "Iran Agrees to Nuclear Inspections" on Truth Social
Iran Refutes U.S. Claims, Says "Decision Depends on Negotiation Outcome"
U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his claim that Iran has agreed to the highest level of nuclear inspections over the long term.
On the 23rd (local time), President Trump stated on his social network service, Truth Social, "Iran has agreed, fully and completely, to the highest level of nuclear inspections indefinitely into the future." President Trump said, "This will ensure 'nuclear transparency,'" adding, "If they (Iran) had not agreed to this, there would have been no further negotiations."
He had previously stated on Truth Social the day before that "Iran will continue to accept a verifiable regime regarding its nuclear program."
Iran has refuted the U.S. claims. Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, "Reports that we have accepted International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspections of nuclear facilities that were hit by U.S. airstrikes are not true," adding, "Whether or not inspections will resume will be determined by the future course and outcome of (the previous) negotiations."
President Trump also said that, based on Iran's concessions such as agreeing to nuclear inspections, the open status of the Strait of Hormuz would be maintained without imposing additional maritime blockades. He added, "The current positions of the vessels will be maintained so that, if necessary, the blockade can be resumed," but noted, "At present, the likelihood of that appears to be very low."
He further explained that Iranian funds released by the U.S. Treasury will be kept in escrow accounts controlled by the United States. President Trump stated that these funds will only be used to purchase U.S.-made food and medical supplies, specifically mentioning corn, wheat, and soybeans produced by American farmers.
