Prime Minister Kim stated, "Recently, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited North Korea and has maintained good relations with the country. It would be beneficial if President Xi and the Chinese leadership could play a role regarding issues on the Korean Peninsula."
He also mentioned that dialogue with North Korea is necessary not only for the Korean Peninsula but also for peace and stability around the world.
Premier Li Chang reportedly expressed agreement with the overall remarks made by Prime Minister Kim.
Regarding industrial cooperation, Prime Minister Kim requested that China promptly dispatch an investment delegation to the Saemangeum Industrial Complex.
The Prime Minister's Office also noted that both sides agreed to use the upcoming APEC event in Shenzhen this November as another opportunity for high-level exchanges, following last year's Korea-China summit at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju.
Both countries decided to actively respond to fake news in order to improve friendly sentiment among their citizens. They also agreed to expand people-to-people exchanges. Prime Minister Kim explained to Premier Li that Korea had extended its visa-free policy for Chinese tourists, originally set to expire at the end of this month, until the end of December.
Premier Li asked Prime Minister Kim to strengthen cooperation in the field of innovation, especially expressing hope to explore ways to stabilize the supply chain in the semiconductor sector. Prime Minister Kim expressed his agreement with this view.
Premier Li also noted the necessity of trilateral cooperation among Korea, China, and Japan, and reportedly pointed out that remarks by Japanese leaders were undermining the foundations of such cooperation.
