This event will be held as a separate session from the public-private joint meeting on the “National Spatial Transformation (Balanced Regional Development)” scheduled for the same day at the Blue House State Guest House.
The report is expected to be attended by 10 to 15 representatives from leading robotics companies in Korea, including Kim Minpyo, CEO of Doosan Robotics, and Eom Yunseol, CEO of Arobot. LG Electronics, which has recently focused on developing household robots and actuators, is also reportedly considering participation. It is anticipated that most participating companies will be represented at the CEO level.
This event is part of a national briefing session to outline the Lee Jae-myung administration’s policy direction in its second year in office. Attendees are expected to review key policy achievements in the fields of robotics, AI, and semiconductors, and to share industry perspectives from the field.
Notably, this briefing session is aligned with the government’s “Three Major Mega Projects for Korea’s Grand Leap Forward.” The projects consist of three pillars: the National AI Strategy, Balanced Regional Development, and New Industry Fostering. In the new industry fostering sector, robotics, AI and semiconductors, as well as autonomous driving, are included as core areas. Recently, President Lee has emphasized the need to actively cultivate new K-industries such as robotics, aerospace, K-bio, and K-defense industry as new engines of growth on par with the semiconductor sector.
An industry official stated, “While the national AI strategy sector focuses on building infrastructure such as data centers, the new industry fostering sector will address robotics,” adding, “Representatives from robotics companies will attend to convey opinions from the field and policy needs.”
