[AI Assistant Era]⑤Commercial District Analysis More Accurate Than Humans... Inside KT's AX Laboratory
KT Innovation Hub Offers Industry-Specific AX Consulting
Over 200 Companies Visited Since Opening Last October
End-to-End Support... "AX Partnerships Will Be Expanded"
"What kind of area or topic would you like assistance with?" → "What do you feel is most lacking in the current commercial district analysis system? For example, aspects like data collection speed or analytical accuracy." → "Based on what we've identified so far, I'll generate a draft. Please review it and let me know if there are any parts that need to be revised."
On June 24, at the 'Innovation Hub' inside the KT West Building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, we asked the artificial intelligence (AI) transformation (AX) solution 'Genie' to create a commercial district analysis system for new KT telecom agency openings. We limited the area to Seoul and requested a map displaying competitor locations. Genie then clarified the requirements through a series of questions, and immediately generated a draft document containing data, expected KPIs, and value benefits.
After checking for any additional requests, an AI agent (assistant) team was assembled. In addition to nine agents optimized for requirement analysis, business insights, data, design, development, deployment, and quality verification, three optional agents specializing in commercial district analysis and site scoring were added. With the team structure approved, the results were produced almost instantly.
Genie recommended Songpa-gu as the top choice, with Gangseo-gu second and Gwanak-gu third. There are a total of 1,103 telecom agency branches of the three major carriers in Seoul; among them, 70 are located in the Jamsilsaenae Station area. KT's market share in this area is about 28.6%. The AI explained that it calculated this by weighting market activity (30%), population density (20%), appropriate competition (20%), and non-KT market share (30%), respectively, and then aggregating the results. A map of the commercial districts was also displayed, with more active areas shown in a deeper red.

The Innovation Hub, which provides industry-specific AX roadmap consulting, opened in October last year. According to KT, around 200 companies have visited the Hub to run AX simulations and assess the potential for AX adoption. More than 30 of these companies have introduced AX to improve their work processes.
Seungrok Jeon, Head of the KT AX Innovation Team, said, "The Innovation Hub is a base camp. It allows customers to directly experience various AX use cases and technologies, and to materialize real work tasks through workshops. By defining and consulting on customers' AX projects, we can quickly build consensus among key decision-makers, including those at the C-level."
KT also operates the 'AX Squad', which, based on a six-week validation framework, develops AI agents onsite, incorporates feedback from field operations, and verifies effectiveness. The goal is to assign experts with the required capabilities for each company to complete the client's AX tasks at the highest level in the shortest time. The focus is not on simple technology demonstrations, but on early verification of return on investment (ROI) and the effectiveness of the AX business in real work environments.
The in-house developed 'AX Harness' has contributed to the advancement of AX capabilities. The core of this technology is internalizing the design and configuration of agents, tools, and prompts, which previously depended on external infrastructure, so that detailed adjustments can be made internally. It is not tied to any specific AI model and, based on a high-performance open-source framework, offers the flexibility to freely build the required AI model for each business at any time.

KT plans to expand its AX partnerships beyond Microsoft (MS) to other global big tech companies. Jeon added, "All three telecom operators have made progressive advances in AX. We began monetizing AX last year, and this year, we have established an end-to-end (E2E) approach. As the AI data center (DC) integrates with KT's AX platform, revenue will increase further."
