[AI Assistant Era]⑤Commercial District Analysis More Accurate Than Humans... Inside KT's AX Laboratory
KT Innovation Hub Offers Industry-Specific AX Consulting
Over 200 Companies Visited Since Opening Last October
End-to-End Support... "AX Partnerships Will Be Expanded"
"What type of field or topic do you want help with?" → "What do you find most lacking in the current commercial area analysis system? For example, aspects such as data collection speed or analytical accuracy." → "Based on what has been identified so far, I will generate a draft. Please review it and let me know if there are any parts that need to be revised."
On the 24th, at the 'Innovation Hub' inside the KT West Building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, the AI transformation (AX) solution 'Genie' was asked to create a commercial area analysis system for opening new KT telecommunications agency branches. The area was limited to Seoul, and it was also requested to display competitors’ locations on a map. Genie then clarified the requirements through a series of questions and quickly created a draft document, including data, expected KPIs, and value benefits.
After confirming if there were any additional requirements, Genie formed an AI agent (assistant) team. In addition to the nine agents optimized for requirement analysis, business insights, data, design, development, deployment, and quality verification, three optional agents were added to handle commercial area analysis and location scoring. Once the team composition was approved, Genie swiftly produced the results.
Genie recommended Songpa District as the top choice, followed by Gangseo District in second and Gwanak District in third. There are a total of 1,103 telecommunications agency branches of the three major carriers in Seoul, with 70 located in the Jamsilsaenae Station area. The KT market share in this area is about 28.6%. The AI explained that this recommendation was based on a weighted sum of market activity (30%), population density (20%), appropriate competition (20%), and non-KT market share (30%). Genie also displayed a commercial area map, with deeper red indicating higher levels of market activity.

View original imageThe Innovation Hub, which provides consulting for industry-specific AX roadmaps, opened in October last year. According to KT, about 200 companies have visited the facility to conduct AX simulations and assess the possibility of AX adoption. Among them, more than 30 companies have adopted AX to improve their work processes.
Seungrok Jeon, Head of the KT AX Innovation Team, said, "The Innovation Hub is a base camp. It provides opportunities to directly experience a variety of AX use cases and technologies and helps specify real work challenges through workshops. We define and consult on customers’ AX challenges, enabling us to quickly build consensus among key decision-makers such as C-level executives."
KT also operates the 'AX Squad,' which, based on a six-week verification framework, develops AI agents on-site, incorporates real-time feedback from the field, and verifies effectiveness. The goal is to complete each client company's AX project to the highest standard in a short period by deploying experts matched to the required competencies. The focus is not on simple technology demonstrations, but on verifying the return on investment (ROI) and effectiveness of AX implementation in real business environments from the early stages.
The advancement of AX capabilities has been supported by KT's self-developed 'AX Harness.' This technology internalizes the design and configuration of agents, tools, and prompts that previously depended on external infrastructure, allowing for detailed internal adjustments. It provides flexibility to develop AI models tailored to each business at any time, based on a high-performance open-source framework, without being tied to any particular AI model.

KT plans to expand its AX partnerships beyond Microsoft (MS) to other global big tech companies. Jeon said, "All three major telecom companies have made progressive and successful strides in AX. Since last year, we have started monetization and this year have established an end-to-end (E2E) approach. As the AI data center (DC) converges with KT’s AX platform, revenue is expected to grow even further."
