"Battery Industry Recovery Gathers Momentum"... 'SNE Battery Day 2026' to Be Held
SNE Research, a market research firm specializing in the secondary battery sector, announced that it will host the ‘2nd SNE Battery Day 2026’ at Seoul's El Tower on June 16.
This conference will feature key executives from global battery companies such as Gotion and REPT BATTERO, who will participate as speakers to share directions for next-generation battery technology development and global market strategies.
The event will be organized into three main sessions: ▲ Next-generation battery applications such as Urban Air Mobility (UAM), drones, and humanoids ▲ The current status and outlook of the global Energy Storage System (ESS) market ▲ Battery recycling and supply chain restructuring.
In the first session, Dooyeon Lee, Vice President of SNE Research, will present new growth scenarios for the battery industry under the theme ‘Battery Revival 2026: Next-Generation Batteries and New Applications.’
Following this, Gotion will unveil its battery development strategy for future applications, while Samsung SDI will share next-generation battery technologies and future directions for the era of robotics, humanoids, and UAM.
In the second session, Daegi Kim, Vice President of SNE Research, will present on the evolution of ESS business models. REPT BATTERO will introduce its strategies for cell development and mass production for large-scale ESS, as well as its plans for expanding into global markets. In addition, Hyosung Heavy Industries will outline its global ESS business strategy and the future direction of power grids in response to the expansion of renewable energy and increased large-scale loads.
In the final session, Hyungdeok Kim, Director at Sungil Hi-Tech, will present a scaling-up strategy for recycling to secure a lead in the rapidly growing waste battery market. Energy Materials will share trends in battery recycling technology and industry outlook, while Wanchan Lee, Deputy General Manager at Huayou Cobalt, will provide insights on battery recycling and reuse technologies.
After a period of adjustment triggered by concerns over slowing electric vehicle demand and oversupply, the global battery market has recently entered a new phase of growth, driven by a recovery in electric vehicle sales in major markets and rapid expansion of the ESS market.
In particular, electric vehicle sales are rebounding in Europe and Korea, while the ESS market is also experiencing rapid growth due to increased demand for power infrastructure stemming from the proliferation of AI data centers and the expansion of renewable energy. Industry experts predict that this year will mark the full-scale turnaround of Korea’s battery industry, with performance improvements expected to become even more pronounced from next year.
A representative from SNE Research stated, “The battery industry is rapidly expanding beyond electric vehicle-centric growth into diverse sectors such as ESS, robotics, and next-generation mobility. We hope this event will serve as a meaningful platform for companies to discover new business opportunities and explore future growth strategies during this market recovery phase.”
