Aiming for Post-War Reconstruction Boom... Daewoo E&C Launches Middle East Reconstruction Task Force
Seeking Strategies for Medium- to Long-Term Reentry into the Iranian Market
Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced on June 23 that it will establish a Middle East Reconstruction Task Force (TF). The company has formed this temporary organization to respond more proactively, anticipating that the large-scale reconstruction and development investment market in the Middle East will begin in earnest following the peace agreement between the United States and Iran.
The company explained that it will set up a council led by the Global Infrastructure Division, which oversees overseas business operations, integrating overseas development and business acquisition functions from each business division, including plant, civil engineering, and architecture. Daewoo Engineering & Construction plans to focus its business acquisition capabilities on infrastructure restoration projects in Middle Eastern countries where it has previously operated, while also laying the groundwork for re-entering the Iranian market in the medium to long term. The company has carried out various projects in Iran, such as the Bandar Abbas-Bafgh railway construction, the Ahvaz power plant, and the Kharg Island offshore oil terminal.
Furthermore, the Middle East Reconstruction TF will cooperate closely with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the International Contractors Association of Korea to establish a monitoring system for the Middle East reconstruction market and actively collect new business information through domestic and international networks. In particular, Daewoo Engineering & Construction will actively participate in forming the "Team Korea" collaboration system, in which major Korean construction companies take part.
