According to the Namyangju Southern Police Station on June 22, at around 11:30 p.m. the previous day, a delivery truck driven by a man in his 50s, referred to as Mr. A, hit a teenage female college student, referred to as Ms. B, who was lying on the road in an alley in Dasan-dong, Namyangju.
Ms. B was transported to the hospital as a result of the accident but was pronounced dead.
Immediately after the accident, Mr. A called emergency services (119) and reportedly stated during the police investigation that he "could not see her because it was dark in the area."
The reason why Ms. B was lying on the road at the time of the accident has not yet been determined.

The police have booked Mr. A on charges of occupational negligence resulting in death and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
