"Lost in the Toilet"... US Plumbing Company Reunites Ring with Owner After 10 Years of Searching
Lost in a Toilet and Missing for Over 10 Years
The story of an engagement ring discovered inside a sewer pipe and returned to its owner after more than 10 years, thanks to a public appeal by a plumbing company, has become a hot topic.
According to People magazine on June 19 (local time), employees of Titan Plumbing, a plumbing company in Michigan, recently discovered a sparkling ring inside a pipe while working. Greg Johnson, the CEO of Titan Plumbing, recounted, “An employee picked up the ring and asked, ‘What should I do with this?’ So I told him, ‘Let’s try to find the owner.’”
The company immediately posted on social networking services (SNS) that they had found a ring during a sewer cleaning operation and were searching for its owner. After seeing the post, a nearby spa employee remembered an incident about 10 years ago when a customer lost a ring in a toilet and was unable to recover it. At that time, the employee and the customer even put on rubber gloves and searched inside the toilet, but ultimately failed to find the ring.
This employee promptly contacted the owner of the ring, Carol Oram, who was then connected with the plumbing company. Oram, who has been married to her husband for about 60 years, proved her ownership by presenting the original documents from when the ring was purchased in 1965.
However, as the ring had been buried inside the pipes for more than 10 years, it was found in a severely contaminated condition. Its original color was so faded that it looked like a yellow gold ring, but after being cleaned and polished at a local jeweler, it regained its shine.

Oram was reportedly moved to tears upon receiving her ring. Johnson also said, “If it were my wife, I would have kept searching until it was found,” and added, “I was truly delighted to be able to return the ring to its owner.”
