MK Electron Successfully Participates in NEPCON China and Thailand... Accelerates Global Expansion of Solder Paste Business
MK Electron has participated in consecutive electronics manufacturing exhibitions in China and Thailand as it seeks to expand its global customer base for its solder paste business, which the company is developing as a new growth engine.
On June 22, MK Electron, a global semiconductor materials company, announced that it had successfully completed its participation in "NEPCON China 2026" in Shanghai and "NEPCON Thailand 2026" in Bangkok, both held in June 2026.
The company explained that through these exhibitions, it was able to showcase the competitiveness of its solder paste products to electronics and semiconductor manufacturers in China and Southeast Asia, while also confirming the potential for collaboration with local clients.
NEPCON China and NEPCON Thailand are global exhibitions specializing in the electronics manufacturing industry, with participation from companies in electronics manufacturing, Surface Mount Technology (SMT), semiconductor packaging, inspection and measurement equipment, and electronic materials sectors.
At these events, MK Electron highlighted solder paste—a new business area for the company—as its main product. Solder paste is a key material in the SMT process for mounting electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs), and as electronic devices become increasingly high-performance and compact, demand is rising for products with stable printability and reliable bonding.
The company plans to leverage its semiconductor packaging materials technology and customer service experience, built through its existing bonding wire and solder ball businesses, within the solder paste sector as well. By doing so, MK Electron aims to build a comprehensive materials portfolio covering semiconductor packaging and electronics assembly processes, and to expand the scope of technical support for its customers.
During NEPCON China 2026, held from June 2 to June 4, the company focused on expanding contact points with local electronics and semiconductor manufacturers in China. China, with its large-scale manufacturing base for electronics production and semiconductor back-end processes, is seeing growing demand for related materials as advanced packaging and electronic assembly processes expand.
MK Electron reviewed its potential entry into the solder paste market using its local sales network and customer connections established through its Chinese subsidiary, and discussed possible collaboration with new clients.
Subsequently, at NEPCON Thailand 2026, held from June 17 to June 20, the company confirmed the potential for market expansion in Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries. Recently, investments by global electronics and automotive parts companies in production bases across Southeast Asia have led to increased demand for electronics manufacturing and SMT materials in the region.
MK Electron engaged in consultations not only with local Thai companies but also with electronics and semiconductor manufacturers throughout the ASEAN region, seeking opportunities to supply solder paste and explore technical cooperation.
A representative from MK Electron stated, "NEPCON China and NEPCON Thailand were meaningful opportunities to promote the competitiveness of our solder paste to major electronics and semiconductor manufacturing customers in China and Southeast Asia, and to understand the requirements of the local markets. We will continue discussions with the clients we met at the exhibitions on sample evaluations and process applications to ensure these efforts lead to tangible business results."
