Suwon Tap Water Deemed 'Safe'... Meets All 59 Quality Standards
The water quality of tap water (purified water) in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, has been found to be completely safe.
The Suwon Waterworks Office announced on June 22 that the purified water from Suwon’s water treatment plants underwent quality testing last year and met all 59 drinking water quality standards, receiving a "compliant" rating for every item.
On this day, the Suwon Waterworks Office also released the "2026 Suwon Tap Water Quality Report," which covers the entire process of tap water production and supply, raw and purified water quality standards, water quality test results, and general knowledge related to tap water.
The raw water is tested for 38 items specified in the "Water Source Management Regulations," including hydrogen ion concentration (pH), total organic carbon (TOC), suspended solids, dissolved oxygen, total coliform group, cadmium, and arsenic.
The purified water is tested for 59 items, including microorganisms (3 items), inorganic substances with harmful health effects (12 items), organic substances with harmful health effects (17 items), disinfectants and disinfection by-products (11 items), and substances affecting aesthetics (16 items).
The Suwon Waterworks Office publishes the water quality test results every month on the Suwon Waterworks Office website (water.suwon.go.kr), the Suwon City website (www.suwon.go.kr), and on notice boards at local administrative welfare centers.
