Tragedy Strikes as Young Brothers Drown at Gokseong Water Play Experience Center
A tragic accident occurred when two young brothers drowned while visiting a water play experience center with their family.
At around 2:42 p.m. on June 21, a report was made to emergency services that "children have fallen into the water" at a water play experience facility in Gokseong-gun, South Jeolla Province.
Upon receiving the report, fire authorities responded and rescued the two brothers from the water, rushing them to a nearby hospital. However, both were ultimately pronounced dead. The brothers, aged 11 and 9, reportedly visited the facility with their family and were playing in the water at the time of the accident.
The police have secured and are analyzing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from inside the water play center. They are also investigating whether safety personnel were present at the time of the incident and examining the facility’s overall management practices.
