The center supports the expansion of economic participation for people with developmental disabilities by providing startup education in the field of food manufacturing using local specialties, as well as business commercialization support.
This training program was the first collaborative initiative based on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed last April with Nazareth University, which specializes in the field of rehabilitation and welfare for people with disabilities. Ten soon-to-be graduates and unemployed graduates with developmental disabilities from Nazareth University participated, completing a two-month program to explore job suitability and entrepreneurship potential.
The training was conducted in a step-by-step process, ranging from job analysis to theory and hands-on practice. In particular, participants used the HACCP-certified facilities at Chungnam Value Creation Center to directly make products such as strawberry jam and apple juice, focusing on practical training to learn hygiene and safety regulations, preprocessing, and packaging processes.
The program also included field trips to local disabled-owned businesses and special lectures by successful entrepreneurs. Seonghee Yu, CEO of Hansan Hangari Sogokju, who was selected as an exemplary disabled entrepreneur in 2024 and received a commendation from the Minister of SMEs and Startups, shared her experiences in developing traditional liquor technology and her management philosophy.
Going forward, Chungnam Value Creation Center plans to provide follow-up entrepreneurship education, expert consultations, and business commercialization support to those aspiring to start their own businesses, based on individual job suitability assessments.
