Ministry of Education and National Institute for Lifelong Education Hold Training for Parent Policy Stakeholders
June 18-19, Over 100 Practitioners Participated
Exploring Strategies for Building Educational Communities
The Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education's National Parent Support Center announced that they held a two-day training session for stakeholders in parent education from June 18 to 19, 2026.
The "2026 Regional Office of Education Parent Support Project Stakeholder Training," held at the voco Seoul Myeongdong in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by more than 100 practitioners from regional offices of education and support centers for parents across the nation, as well as 79 regional Parent Support Centers.
Participants shared key issues related to parent policies, worked to enhance their site-based support capabilities for parents, and explored cooperation strategies to activate the educational community.
Professor Eunyoung Kim of Seoul National University, who participated in the event, delivered a keynote speech titled "Designing the Educational Community Through Partnerships," highlighting the significance of educational communities co-created by schools and parents and presenting actionable cooperation models based on exemplary domestic and international cases. In addition, Professor Jae-woo Joo of Kookmin University shared practical ideas for planning and operating parent education from a behavioral economics perspective, while Professor Hyesook Ha of Korea National Open University introduced counseling techniques and case studies applicable in the field.

Wol-yong Kim, President of the National Institute for Lifelong Education, stated, "Parent education is no longer a choice, but an essential national investment for future generations," and urged, "Let us all work together to ensure that trust between teachers and parents, communication between children and parents, and the companionship of students and teachers are naturally realized in schools."
