Baedal Minjok to Voluntarily Participate in 'Online Platform Co-Prosperity Evaluation'
Decision to Participate Demonstrates Commitment to Strengthening Co-Prosperity Initiatives
Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok, announced on the 19th that it will voluntarily participate in the 'Online Platform Co-Prosperity Evaluation' organized by the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership.
The Online Platform Co-Prosperity Evaluation is set to be conducted for delivery platforms and open market companies, reflecting both a perception survey and actual outcomes in co-prosperity collaboration. On the 16th, the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership announced that it would launch a pilot evaluation for the finance, defense, and online platform sectors.
With the establishment of this new Online Platform Co-Prosperity Evaluation, Baedal Minjok plans to use the opportunity to have the achievements of its ongoing co-prosperity initiatives objectively validated and to continuously raise its standards.
Baedal Minjok has steadily expanded a variety of co-prosperity programs to foster mutual growth with stakeholders in the delivery ecosystem. A prime example is the 'Baemin Academy,' a specialized education center for the food service industry that opened in 2014.
Baemin Academy provides free education ranging from basic food service theory and recipe practice to labor and tax management, as well as marketing through delivery apps, social media, and AI applications, all of which are necessary for running a business. This is offered both at offline centers in Seoul and Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, and through online courses. As of the end of April, the cumulative number of students had surpassed 350,000.
The company is also actively engaged in social contribution activities for the food service sector. The 'Elegant Boss Children's Scholarship,' which began in 2022, is a program supporting the next generation in food service business owners' families. Over five years, a total of 9 billion won in scholarships has been awarded to 1,578 children of restaurant owners. Through the 'Elegant Boss Support Fund,' the company also provides medical expense support to restaurant owners facing difficulties due to sudden accidents or illness.
Woowa Youths, a wholly owned subsidiary responsible for logistics services, is leading efforts to create a sustainable delivery environment. The 'Baemin Rider School,' the only offline safety training institution for two-wheeled vehicles in Korea, provides training at a three-story, approximately 8,000 square meter indoor facility. As of last year, the cumulative number of graduates reached about 23,000.
In February last year, Woowa Youths launched the industry's first rider safety governance body, the 'Rider Safety Management Committee.' This private council, which includes experts in industrial safety, health, labor law, and the delivery platform labor union, continues to establish diverse policies and improve systems for rider safety.
