Police Refer Yoon for Prosecution over Kim Geonhee Dior Bag Case on Graft Charges
The police have determined that the case involving the acceptance of a Dior bag by Kim Geonhee, spouse of former President Yoon Sukyeol, is related to the former president's official duties, and have referred Yoon to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office. However, they concluded that there is insufficient evidence to prove that the two conspired to accept valuables together, so bribery charges were not applied.
The Special Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency announced on June 19 that former President Yoon was referred for prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.
Former President Yoon is accused of failing to report to the Board of Audit and Inspection or other authorities, even though he was aware that in June 2022, Kim received a Dior bag worth approximately 3 million won from Pastor Choi Jaeyoung.

However, bribery charges were not applied against the former president. The authorities concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove that Yoon and Kim conspired to accept luxury goods together. Kim is currently undergoing her first trial on charges of receiving various valuables, including the Dior bag, a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace, and a gold turtle, as well as for allegedly accepting requests related to personnel appointments and business interests.
