SK hynix Employee Donates Another 100 Million Won... Second Honor Society Membership This Year
Kim Jonghun of SK hynix Joins the Honor Society
Second SK hynix Employee to Join This Year, Following an Anonymous Member in April
Amid the artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor boom and record-breaking performance, an employee of SK hynix has donated 100 million won, joining the Honor Society, a high-value donor group. This is the second time this year that an SK hynix employee has joined the Honor Society, following an employee from the North Chungcheong region in April.
The Community Chest of Korea, also known as the Fruit of Love, announced on June 18 that SK hynix employee Kim Jonghun donated 100 million won and became the 3,958th member of the Honor Society (400th in Gyeonggi Province), an individual high-value donor group. The induction ceremony, held at the Gyeonggi branch of the Fruit of Love, was attended by Mr. Kim, his family, and Kwon Inwook, Chairman of the Gyeonggi branch of the Fruit of Love.
Mr. Kim stated, "Thanks to the recent growth of the AI semiconductor industry and the achievements of the company, I have experienced more happiness than I deserve. I wanted to extend the fruits of this technology to society and practice sharing that brightens the future of our neighbors." He added, "I believe I already enjoy more than enough for myself, so I had no hesitation in deciding to donate."
He also said, "With my family's support, I was able to muster even greater courage. I hope this donation serves as a good example for my child."
Mr. Kim, who has consistently participated in volunteer work since his school days, said he recently had the opportunity to reflect on his life through in-house training last year. He remarked, "I realized that true happiness is not about having more, but about sharing what you have."
He further emphasized, "I find it meaningful to have joined the Honor Society before the age of 40, and my new goal is to continue donating steadily in the future." He continued, "I hope that the advancement of AI and semiconductor technology leads to more opportunities and hope for many people, so that no one is left behind in society."

The Honor Society is a group of individual high-value donors who have either donated at least 100 million won or pledged to do so within five years. Since its launch in 2007, it is approaching a nationwide membership milestone of 4,000. In April, it was belatedly revealed that an SK hynix employee from North Chungcheong anonymously donated 100 million won and joined the Honor Society. At the time, the employee stated, "I wanted to pursue the happiness of those around me outside the company as well. I hope news of my donation will inspire someone else to give."
