Trump Formalizes Apple-Intel Chip Production Partnership: "Must Be Made in the U.S."
Official Confirmation of Collaboration on Truth Social

Trump Claims "Countries Like Taiwan Stole U.S. Semiconductor Factories"
On June 18 (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump announced that iPhone manufacturer Apple and U.S. semiconductor company Intel have agreed to collaborate on the production of chips designed in-house. Last month, foreign media outlets reported that a preliminary agreement had been reached between the two companies, and President Trump has now confirmed this.
President Trump shared the news about Intel in a post on Truth Social, a social networking service, stating, "The technology the world relies on was invented in the United States. We all remember 'Intel Inside,'" emphasizing that chips should be designed and manufactured in the U.S.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on May 8, citing sources familiar with the matter, that Apple had reached a preliminary agreement to have Intel handle part of its in-house chip production. The two companies have been in negotiations for more than a year and reportedly finalized an official contract in recent months. It is said that the White House played a pivotal role in facilitating this collaboration.
President Trump argued, "Foolish presidents took our economy for granted and allowed Taiwan and other countries to steal our semiconductor factories," adding, "They forgot that our industry must be protected by tariffs." He also stated, "When I secured my second term, it was clear that America needed to reclaim its semiconductor industry. We design everything, but now we must produce it here in America."
He also credited himself for the rise in Intel's stock price, attributing it to the government’s acquisition of shares last year using approximately 9 billion dollars in federal subsidies. The U.S. government currently holds a 10% stake. President Trump said, "When we made the offer, Intel's value was about 100 billion dollars, but now it exceeds 600 billion dollars," emphasizing, "Its value has increased by more than 500 billion dollars in just nine months."
