Gadeokdo New Airport Design to Reflect Airlines' Voices... Corporation Launches First Council
Six Domestic Airlines Including Korean Air and Air Busan
"Gathering Feedback on Terminals, Transfer Flow, and Cargo Facilities"
Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation has begun active communication with airlines to enhance operational efficiency after the new airport opens. The corporation plans to incorporate the opinions of airlines that will actually use the airport from the design stage, aiming to strengthen the airport's competitiveness.
Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation (Chairman Lee Yoonsang) announced on June 18 that it held the first meeting of the "Gadeokdo New Airport Airline Council" with six domestic airlines currently operating at Gimhae Airport.
This council was established to improve the quality of the basic architectural design for facilities such as the passenger terminal, which is scheduled to be completed within this year. The corporation intends to reflect the operational experience and requirements of its main customers—airlines—during the design process, thereby increasing user convenience and operational efficiency.
About 20 people, including representatives from Korean Air, Air Busan, Jin Air, Jeju Air, Eastar Jet, Trinity Air, and officials from the corporation, attended the meeting. During the meeting, the corporation explained the current status of the Gadeokdo New Airport project, the basic architectural design of the facilities, and plans to establish an integrated information system. The airlines provided feedback on practical operational needs such as lounge and office space, passenger transfer flow, and cargo handling facilities.
The corporation will review the opinions presented at the meeting and incorporate them into the basic design. By building a collaborative system with airlines from the early stages of the project, the corporation expects to establish a stable operational foundation for the airport after its opening.
