He immediately stopped the vehicle.
Looking around, he found an elderly person sitting on a rock about 4 meters below the roadside in a stream, asking for help. Nearby, a black three-wheeled walker for elderly mobility was found overturned. Park immediately called 112 and stayed at the scene until the police and fire authorities arrived, calming the elderly person and checking their condition.
The Jecheon Police Station determined that the rescue was possible thanks to the swift report and calm response, and awarded Park with a plaque of appreciation on May 22 in recognition of his contribution. As a member of the "Delivery Patrol" organized in cooperation with the Jecheon Police Station, Park has actively participated in local safety activities.
The Delivery Patrol is a crime prevention and community safety patrol organization that was launched in Jecheon in 2023, the first of its kind in the nation. Delivery drivers carry out activities such as discovering missing or runaway persons, securing lost items, preventing crimes, and reporting traffic accidents while making deliveries.
Park said, "I only did what anyone should do, so I feel a bit embarrassed to receive this letter of appreciation," and added, "I will continue to watch my surroundings more carefully and take responsibility in carrying out my duties."
