A self-harm incident occurred at the protest site in front of the vote-counting center at the Handball Gymnasium in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, where citizens have continued to express outrage over the shortage of ballot papers during the 9th nationwide local elections.

View original imageAccording to police, at around 10:24 p.m. on the 17th, a man in his 30s wielded a weapon and threatened people in front of Gates 1-3 of the Handball Gymnasium, before injuring his own arm and being transported to the hospital. It was reported that he repeatedly shouted, "Someone is dying inside the Handball Gymnasium," and confronted the police before suddenly harming himself. Police subdued him and confiscated the weapon before transferring him to the hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The Songpa Police Station in Seoul stated that they will investigate the details of the incident, including the motive for self-harm, once the man recovers.
