The Office of the President evaluated President Lee Jae-myung's attendance at the Group of Seven (G7) Summit by stating, "By attending the G7 Summit for two consecutive years, he has further solidified South Korea’s status as a globally responsible nation striving for the G7 Plus."

View original imageOh Hyun-joo, the third deputy director of the National Security Office, said in a briefing on the 17th (local time), "He actively participated in international solidarity to address global issues, expressed South Korea's intention to lead related agendas as the chair country of the G20 in 2028, and joined most of the consensus documents among the G7 leaders," adding this assessment.
She continued, "He proposed pursuing systematic solutions through mutual solidarity and cooperation to strengthen the resilience of global energy supply chains," and added, "To this end, our government will first utilize the existing global energy security system centered on the International Energy Agency (IEA) to discuss specific cooperation measures."
She also stated that South Korea will closely consult with major countries on ways to expand the current global energy security system, which the IEA has established and operated, including the 'IEA Singapore Regional Cooperation Center.'
President Lee also expressed support for the G7’s efforts to stabilize critical minerals supply chains and pledged that South Korea, as both a major consumer of critical minerals and a key holder of advanced processing technology, would actively participate in the international community’s initiatives.

Deputy Director Oh said, "On the occasion of this event, President Lee held bilateral summits with Germany, Canada, and Kenya, and secured momentum for pragmatic diplomacy centered on national interests, including having a two-hour conversation on various topics while seated next to U.S. President Donald Trump during dinner."
