Cartoonist Heo Young-man (age 79) is suspending all public activities due to health concerns.
Heo Young-man Co., Ltd. announced on June 17, "Heo, following the advice of his medical team, has been hospitalized and is focusing on treatment and recovery," adding, "He will be taking a break for the time being to rest."
As a result, the TV Chosun program "Gastronome: Heo Young-man's Baekban Travels," which has aired for seven years, will conclude with the end of Season 1. TV Chosun has scheduled a special broadcast for June 21 at 7:50 PM. The special will look back on seven years of conversations with 365 guests and 2,131 local dishes from across Korea.

Born in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do in 1947, Heo made his debut in 1974 after winning the rookie cartoonist contest hosted by The Korea Times. He rose to fame with "Gaksital" and went on to leave a significant mark on Korean comics with works such as "Fly Superboard," "Beat," "Tazza," and "Gastronome."
