Kolon Industries announced on June 17 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the University of Seoul on June 16 for industry-academic cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and materials. The initiative aims to enhance future advanced technology competitiveness and foster key specialists.

The two institutions will cooperate in various areas, including: establishing a joint research system for industry-academic collaboration in AI and materials fields; sharing the latest technology and advanced industry information; jointly utilizing university research infrastructure and corporate technology resources; and fostering professionals based on AI convergence.
Kolon Industries plans to accelerate the artificial intelligence transformation (AX) of its new material development process by integrating the University of Seoul's AI research capabilities, such as deep learning and machine information, with its own advanced material development technology.
The two institutions also intend to jointly establish a system to cultivate professionals who can be immediately deployed to the industrial field.
