Huons Meditech Registers Russian Patent for PN-HA Composite Filler "Valpien"
Patent Applications Underway in 12 Countries Worldwide
Huons Meditech has secured intellectual property rights for global market expansion as its composite filler "Valpien" received patent registration in Russia.
On June 17, Huons Meditech announced that it recently received a decision from the Russian Patent Office approving the patent registration for both the composition and manufacturing method of Valpien, a composite filler combining polynucleotide sodium (PN) and hyaluronic acid (HA).
Huons Meditech registered the domestic patent in 2022 and proceeded with an international application through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Patent applications are currently underway in 12 countries including the United States, with Russia being the first country to grant registration.
This technology is a composite filler manufacturing method that combines PN, known for its excellent biocompatibility and skin regeneration effects, with high-purity HA. It also contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, which reduces pain during procedures compared to conventional PN fillers.
In December last year, Huons Meditech completed a confirmatory clinical trial of Valpien in Korea, involving 171 adults requiring improvement of crow’s feet. Based on these clinical results, the company applied for product approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety last month. Depending on the approval outcome, it aims to launch the product in the second half of the year.
