President Lee Jae-myung attended the Group of Seven (G7) summit held in Evian, France, on June 16 (local time).
On this day, at around 12:00 p.m., President Lee arrived at the Evian Royal Hotel, the venue for the G7 summit, together with First Lady Kim Hye-kyung. The presidential couple was welcomed by Frederic Bié, Chief of Protocol of France, and Jean-Pierre Asvazadourian, Secretary-General for G7 Preparation.

View original imagePresident Lee will participate in an expanded session alongside leaders from the five guest nations invited by the host country, including Brazil, India, Kenya, and Egypt. He is scheduled to attend the first session of the expanded meeting on the opening day, the second session on the following morning, and a luncheon. The topic of the first session of the expanded meeting on this day is "Building New Partnerships and Reconstructing International Solidarity." Kang Yoo-jung, Chief Presidential Spokesperson, stated, "The participating countries plan to discuss various solutions to strengthen development cooperation in response to recent changes in the environment, such as a reduction in international development aid."
President Lee is expected to emphasize that while the development needs of recipient countries remain substantial, donor countries are experiencing a shortage of resources, making it necessary to seek new partnerships. He also plans to explain that each recipient country should utilize public funds to promote domestic private investment, thereby achieving economic self-reliance. In addition, he will share the Korean government's vision related to AI, including the establishment of a global AI basic society and a global AI hub.
