Casualties have been reported following a magnitude 6.3 earthquake that struck Qinghai Province in western China.
According to the Chinese state-run Xinhua News Agency, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred in Haixi, Qinghai Province, at approximately 5:06 p.m. local time on June 16. As of 6:40 p.m., one person had been confirmed dead and four others injured. The epicenter was located at latitude 37.80°N and longitude 95.56°E, with a depth of 10 km.

Chinese media outlet National Business Daily reported that there are numerous salt lakes near the epicenter, and that publicly listed companies such as Zhangge Mining operate in the area. Xinhua News Agency also stated that all workers at coal mining companies near the epicenter have already been evacuated, and that further investigation into additional casualties and property damage is ongoing.
