The remaining member was Councilor Shin, the subject of the complaint, who reportedly did not participate in the vote.
In accordance with the decision, the council plans to submit the complaint to the police in the afternoon of the 16th.
This complaint is a procedural step to allow investigative authorities to determine the validity of the allegations of violation of the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act raised against Councilor A. The facts and legal violations will be clarified through the police investigation.
The Geochang County Council stated, "As a result of deliberation at the general assembly, a majority opinion led to the decision to file a police complaint," adding, "The specific facts and potential violations of the law are matters to be determined by investigative authorities."
Meanwhile, whether Councilor A violated the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act will be finally determined through the police investigation and subsequent procedures.
While efforts by the council for self-regulation are necessary, filing a complaint does not imply guilt. This decision merely entrusts the investigation of the allegations to the authorities, and the final judgment should be made through police investigation and judicial proceedings.
