Court Schedules Packed in June for Kim Beomsoo, Heo Youngin, and Others
Trials involving major corporate leaders and current and former executives, including Jay Y. Lee, Executive Chairman of Samsung Electronics, will continue to be held at the Seoul Central District Court throughout the third quarter of the year.
First, trials for executives in the finance and construction industries will fill the court schedule in July. On July 3, a hearing is scheduled for the shareholder derivative suit involving Euh Yoon-Dae, Chairman of Daishin Securities. On July 6, court proceedings will take place regarding the transfer of shares case involving Kang Woongcheol, founder of Bodyfriend, and Han Juhui, Chairman of Han & Brothers. Then, on July 8, a trial is set for Jeong Dowon, Chairman of Sampyo Group, who has been charged with unfair support of affiliates. The shareholder derivative suit hearing against Park Moondeok, Chairman of HiteJinro, is scheduled for July 16, and the appellate trial for Yoo Junwon, Chairman of Sangsangin Group, who was indicted for illegal loans and stock price manipulation, is set for July 22.
In August, lawsuits involving the Hyosung family dispute and the BYC owner family will be held. The trial of Cho Hyunmoon, former Vice President of Hyosung Heavy Industries, who has been indicted for attempted coercion, will take place twice on August 21 and August 28. Cho has been accused of threatening his elder brother, Cho Hyunjoon, Chairman of Hyosung Group, but denies the allegations. On August 28, the verdict in the inheritance lawsuit involving Han Seokbeom, Chairman of BYC, and others is expected to be delivered.
In September, the civil trial involving Samsung Group will resume. On September 10, a hearing is scheduled for the damages lawsuit filed by the National Pension Service against Chairman Jay Y. Lee and others over the merger of Samsung C&T. This lawsuit began as the National Pension Service claimed compensation for losses incurred during the merger process. At the hearing held on June 4, the court requested that the National Pension Service clarify the government's involvement and specify the liability structure of each defendant.

Meanwhile, in the remaining period of the second quarter, trials involving major business figures are also scheduled. On June 18, there will be a hearing for the shareholder derivative suit against Jang Hyungjin, advisor to Young Poong Group, and the verdict in the real estate fraudulent transaction case involving Lee Mankyu, CEO of Ananti. On June 19, the hearing for Cho Hyunmoon’s attempted coercion case will take place, and on June 22, court proceedings are scheduled for Kang Woongcheol, founder of Bodyfriend. Notably, on June 24, there will be a trial for Kim Beomsoo, founder of Kakao, who is accused of manipulating SM Entertainment’s stock price, as well as a trial for Hur Youngin, Chairman of SPC, who has been indicted for suppressing the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions. On the same day, trials for Jeong Dowon, Chairman of Sampyo Group, and Yoo Junwon, Chairman of Sangsangin Group, will also be held. Finally, on June 25, the civil hearings for the damages lawsuit filed against Hong Wonshik, former Chairman of Namyang Dairy Products, and the penalty claim case involving Song Youngsook, Chairwoman of Hanmi Pharm, are expected to conclude the June schedule.
