This button is a specially created custom award to commemorate surpassing 500 million subscribers, making it the first '500 Million Subscriber Button' ever awarded to any YouTube channel worldwide. YouTube's official Creator Awards are traditionally divided into the Silver (100,000 subscribers), Gold (1 million), Diamond (10 million), and Red Diamond (100 million) categories. The 500 Million Subscriber Button that MrBeast received is a specially crafted custom award that goes beyond the official tiers, symbolizing an unprecedented milestone in YouTube history.
Previously, on June 12, MrBeast became the first individual creator to surpass 500 million YouTube subscribers. The official YouTube blog also introduced him as "the first individual creator to reach 500 million subscribers," calling it a new milestone in the platform's history. This is not the first time he has set a record. In November 2022, MrBeast surpassed PewDiePie to become the most-subscribed male individual YouTuber. Then, in June 2024, he overtook the Indian music channel T-Series to become the most-subscribed channel on YouTube overall. In July 2024, he reached 300 million subscribers, and in 2025, he surpassed 400 million, continuously breaking records in the hundreds of millions.
Behind MrBeast's growth are challenge videos with massive production budgets, large cash prize content, and donation and social contribution projects. Videos recreating Squid Game in real life, extreme survival challenges, and prize competition content involving hundreds of participants have attracted viewers from around the world. In particular, his donation content has become one of his signature brands.

Foreign media outlets are viewing the achievement of 500 million subscribers not just as a personal record but as a symbolic event for the creator economy on YouTube. This is because, in an entertainment market once dominated by broadcasters or major studios, an individual creator now commands hundreds of millions of loyal viewers worldwide. Online users who saw the photo commented, "He has collected all the YouTube Play Buttons," "This is my first time seeing the 500 million subscriber button," "Is the next goal 1 billion?" and "He is YouTube history itself."
