National Innovation Party Elects Kim Junhyung as New Floor Leader: "Will Cooperate for Lee Administration's Success, Rejects Alliances for Power Struggles"
"We Will Rebuild Everything from the Basics Together"
"Polarized Politics Hinders Development... Political Reform Is Important"
Kim Junhyung has been elected as the new floor leader of the National Innovation Party. Floor Leader Kim stated, "If it is for the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration, or for the reform and progress of the Republic of Korea, I am willing to unite and offer support as much as needed." However, he also emphasized, "If it is in the context of political maneuvering or power struggles, I will reject not only a merger but any kind of alliance."
The Innovation Party held a general assembly of its lawmakers on June 16 and unanimously nominated Kim as the new floor leader without a vote. In his inaugural address, Floor Leader Kim said, "We will rebuild everything from the basics together," adding, "I will do my utmost to create a structure where the expertise and dedication of all lawmakers, as well as the passion of our party members, are consolidated into the strength of the party."
Floor Leader Kim reaffirmed his commitment to solidarity among the Democratic, progressive, and reformist forces, including the Democratic Party. He stated, "As soon as the Democratic, progressive, and reformist camps show even the slightest gap, reactionary forces immediately leap to counterattack," adding, "Neither democracy, nor the resolution of internal strife, nor the recovery of people's livelihoods can be achieved without the unity and cooperation of the Democratic, progressive, and reformist forces." However, he made it clear that he would not support any merger or alliance with the character of political calculation or power struggles.
