This contract marks the first case where CJ MedTech has extended its human tissue-based business platform to external clients. Through this partnership, Kolon Pharmaceutical aims to expand its aesthetic business portfolio, while CJ MedTech plans to broaden the business scope of its human tissue manufacturing platform.
The product subject to this agreement is a human tissue product for skin booster applications, utilizing hECM. CJ MedTech will be responsible for product development and manufacturing, quality control, regulatory compliance, and establishing the supply system. Kolon Pharmaceutical will handle sales and distribution targeting hospitals and clinics in Korea.
Starting with this collaboration, the two companies plan to gradually expand the scope of their partnership, including increasing supply volume and developing new product lines, in response to market demand and business performance.
CJ MedTech recently strengthened its capability to secure human tissue raw materials through the acquisition of a tissue bank located in Seongnam. Based on this, the company is building a human tissue-based business structure that covers everything from securing raw materials to product development, manufacturing, quality control, regulatory compliance, and supply.
The company intends to foster its human tissue-based business as a new growth pillar alongside its existing orthopedic and dental medical device businesses, and to strengthen its CDMO operations by expanding domestic and international partnerships in the future.
