On June 16, Samsung Electronics announced that it will enhance the security of Galaxy devices to proactively block threats such as malicious applications and messages, which are frequently used in mobile financial fraud schemes.
Starting with One UI 9.0, to be installed on new smartphones released in the second half of this year, the company will strengthen its "Phishing App Risk Notification" feature. If an installed app is identified as malicious, the device will block it from running entirely. At the time of app installation, Galaxy devices will check reputation data from the Galaxy Store to determine whether the app is suspected of phishing. Samsung also plans to introduce a feature that encourages users to delete apps that were either installed within a few hours after a suspected voice phishing call or installed remotely, by sending warning notifications.
Samsung Electronics is also working with the Korean National Police Agency, the National Forensic Service, and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to provide regular "security policy updates." In particular, beginning with the Galaxy S26 series, all Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5 or higher will allow users to choose their preferred network environment and update security policies in real time.
Additionally, Samsung has applied a "malicious message blocking" feature, co-developed with the Korea Communications Commission and KISA, to Galaxy smartphones in Korea. This feature preemptively blocks malicious spam messages based on information provided by KISA, such as sender numbers, risky links, and spam (keyword) content. Since its initial introduction in September 2024, the feature has blocked a cumulative total of approximately 400 million malicious messages as of April of this year.
From the Galaxy S25 series onward, a deep learning-based "Intelligence Blocking" feature has been added. Artificial intelligence (AI) learns from about 500,000 data points per month received from KISA and automatically classifies and blocks suspicious messages related to illegal gambling, loans, stocks, smishing, and more. Users can check both manually and automatically blocked messages from the last 30 days via the "Blocked Messages" menu in the messaging app.

Samsung Electronics stated, "We have enhanced anti-voice phishing features to proactively protect users from unforeseen harm," adding, "Starting with the Galaxy S26 series, we will introduce 'Call Screening,' where Galaxy AI will answer incoming calls, summarize the caller information and conversation, and provide this summary to the user."
