Gyeonggi Province Levies 441.9 Billion Won in First Installment of Automobile Tax
Gyeonggi Province announced on June 16 that it has levied a total of 441.9 billion won in the first installment of automobile tax for this year.
The municipalities with the highest assessed automobile taxes are Hwaseong City (40.8 billion won), Suwon City (37.3 billion won), and Yongin City (35.4 billion won), in that order.
The automobile tax is imposed twice a year on the registered owner as of the annual tax base date. The first installment of the automobile tax imposed this time covers vehicle ownership from January 1 to June 30 of this year.
The payment period runs from June 16 to July 3. Payment can be made directly at any financial institution nationwide, or through Wetax (website and mobile app), virtual accounts, ARS (1422-11), and automated devices (CD/ATM).
If you use the local tax income account (electronic payment number) printed on your tax bill, the transfer fee will be waived. Additionally, those who apply for electronic notifications via simple payment apps can receive a tax deduction benefit.
Furthermore, if you prepay the second installment of the automobile tax (for the period July 1 to December 31, 2026) through Wetax or the relevant city, county, or district tax office by June 30, you can receive a 2.5% discount.
