Citibank Korea Holds Global Community Day for 21st Consecutive Year
Volunteer Activities Including Habitat House-Building and Environmental Cleanups to Continue Through the End of This Month
Citibank Korea announced on the 15th that it held the 'Citi Global Community Day (Global Community Day·GCD)' event on the 13th, which brought together employees, their families, friends, and client company staff.
Launched in 2006, GCD is a large-scale volunteer campaign in which Citi employees around the world participate. To date, 1.2 million people have taken part, logging a total of 2 million hours of service, making it a flagship social contribution initiative.
Yoo Myungsoon, CEO of Citibank Korea, joined employees in the Jeongdong-gil area of Jongno-gu, Seoul, to participate in the 'Modern Cultural Heritage Conservation Activity with a Cultural Guide.'
Volunteers conducted environmental cleanup activities around the modern cultural heritage sites in Jeongdong, where Citibank Korea’s headquarters is located.
Previously, Citibank Korea began a series of volunteer activities with the 'Harmony Concert' held at the outdoor stage of Jeongdong Park in Seoul on May 27. These activities are centered on public interest in the local community, financial inclusion, environmental preservation, cultural heritage conservation, respect for life, and support for youth and adolescents.
By the end of this month, the bank will sequentially carry out a range of initiatives, including the Habitat for Humanity 'Hope House-Building' project, bike-sharing organization volunteer work, care for abandoned dogs and cats, Seoul cultural heritage tours and environmental cleanups, reading fairy tales aloud for children with limited access to books, night plogging, and support for resource recycling activists.
