Hanmi Semiconductor Completes Acquisition of 50 Billion Won in SpaceX Shares: "Investment in Elon Musk's Terafab and Space Growth Potential"
Hanmi Semiconductor announced on June 15 that it has acquired shares of SpaceX, a U.S. aerospace and satellite communications company, worth approximately 50 billion won.
According to a disclosure filed with the Financial Supervisory Service on this day, Hanmi Semiconductor acquired 215,600 shares of SpaceX through an on-market purchase for 50,007,796,333 won. The scheduled acquisition date was June 13, and the board resolution was made on June 12.
After the acquisition, Hanmi Semiconductor's total holdings in SpaceX amount to 215,600 shares, representing a 0.002% stake. This investment is equivalent to 7.24% of Hanmi Semiconductor's equity capital, which amounts to 690.3 billion won.
The company stated that the purpose of the acquisition is "to invest in the future growth potential of Elon Musk's Terafab and SpaceX, driven by the explosive demand for AI, satellite communications, aerospace, and advanced semiconductors."
SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, is the world's largest private space company. Through its rocket technology and the satellite communication service Starlink, it is rapidly emerging as a key infrastructure company in the age of AI. Recently, as the AI industry expands, the importance of satellite data and global network infrastructure has been growing, drawing attention to SpaceX as a core future growth company.
