PolarisAI Launches AI-Based Industrial Safety Solution 'POLARIS EYE'... Targets Major Accident Prevention Market
PolarisAI announced on June 15 that it has officially launched its Vision AI solution, 'POLARIS EYE,' aimed at preventing industrial site safety accidents, and is targeting the manufacturing, construction, logistics, and public safety markets.
This solution is an AI platform specialized in industrial safety, capable of detecting and analyzing various risk factors that arise on-site in real time. It features an edge IPC (industrial PC) architecture based on a high-performance Neural Processing Unit (NPU), enabling immediate video analysis on-site without the need for an expensive GPU server.
POLARIS EYE provides a wide range of safety functions required in industrial settings, such as verifying whether workers are wearing safety helmets, vests, and belts; detecting unauthorized entry into hazardous areas; predicting collision risks involving forklifts and mobile equipment; detecting fire and smoke; identifying workers who have collapsed and requesting rescue; and analyzing abnormal situations.
When a hazardous situation occurs, the system instantly notifies managers by linking with an integrated control system. It also supports rapid response by both workers and managers through various channels such as KakaoTalk messages, on-site warning lights, and speakers.
Existing industrial safety AI solutions have faced limitations due to high initial investment costs and operational burdens, as they rely on GPU server-based infrastructure. In contrast, POLARIS EYE utilizes a serverless architecture based on the NPU developed by DeepX, a domestic AI semiconductor company, thereby reducing both installation and maintenance costs.
Additionally, the solution adopts an edge AI approach, processing video data directly on devices installed on-site instead of transmitting it to external clouds. This reduces the risk of data leakage and enables real-time response without delays that may occur during network transmission.
This product was developed based on the technical expertise of Another Real, a company specializing in Vision AI. By combining PolarisAI's capabilities in edge AI implementation and NPU-based on-site computation, the solution makes efficient use of existing on-site infrastructure such as CCTV while establishing an effective safety management system.
PolarisAI is using its group companies' production sites as testbeds to validate product performance. Currently, POLARIS EYE is being applied primarily at the manufacturing site of Polaris Sewon and the production and research environments of PolarisAI Pharma, where it is being tested for various safety scenarios such as detecting whether workers are wearing protective gear and controlling access to hazardous areas.
The company plans to continuously improve the solution's features based on data collected from actual field sites and to secure competitiveness for entry into B2B and public safety markets in the future.
The launch of POLARIS EYE is also significant as it marks the first commercial achievement in PolarisAI's efforts in physical AI, Vision AI, and edge AI businesses. The company intends to expand solutions that allow AI to directly recognize and make decisions based on field data, thus transforming its business structure from a traditional IT service focus to a high value-added AI solution focus.
Recently, the industrial safety AI market has been growing rapidly due to factors such as compliance with the Serious Accident Punishment Act, the strengthening of ESG management, labor shortages on-site, and the transition to smart factories. PolarisAI plans to expand its business areas from manufacturing and construction to logistics, railways, and public safety, in line with the government's policy to foster domestic AI semiconductors and on-device AI.
A PolarisAI official stated, "POLARIS EYE combines Another Real's sophisticated Vision AI engine with PolarisAI's edge AI technology to deliver a solution that is both cost-effective and highly efficient on-site. By leveraging the strengths of our group companies in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and public software, we aim to enhance technological reliability and expand supply in markets where there is high demand for major accident prevention, thereby achieving substantial sales growth and increasing shareholder value."
Meanwhile, the Polaris Group is promoting the expansion of its AI industrial safety business by leveraging the capabilities of its affiliates in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and bio, public software, cloud, and document security. PolarisAI plans to further enhance safety management standards by integrating real-time data acquired through edge and Vision AI with physical AI.
