In his welcoming remarks, Kim stated, "Batteries are no longer just products but have become core infrastructure that connects all forms of energy in the world," adding, "We have organized this event to meet talent who will help shape the direction of the future energy industry together."
This event was attended by about 40 master's and doctoral students and researchers from leading universities and research institutions in North America, including MIT, Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, University of Chicago, and Argonne National Laboratory.
The event prepared a comprehensive discussion of the future of batteries, with broad participation from experts not only in core battery research fields such as energy storage systems (ESS) and next-generation batteries but also in emerging fields like artificial intelligence (AI) and physical AI.
On this day, CEO Kim and key executives met directly with the participants to introduce LG Energy Solution's current technologies, vision, and various career paths. During the "CEO Session," Kim shared his career story from joining the company as a Ph.D. in materials engineering to becoming CEO, and discussed his experiences growing as a senior researcher through a Q&A session.
He emphasized, "I aim to grow LG Energy Solution beyond a simple battery company into an energy platform company that provides total solutions," adding, "It is R&D talent like you who will create that future." He further commented, "Building the future of batteries will not be an easy journey, but it will be a meaningful and valuable challenge."
Technical exchanges were also actively conducted. LG Energy Solution shared the current status and vision of its major research organizations, including the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Digital Officer (CDO). Research presentations were also held on new technology fields that have recently attracted attention, such as ESS, AI and big data, and next-generation batteries.
Lee Sang-young, a renowned authority in the battery field and Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Yonsei University, was specially invited to deliver a lecture on the latest trends in battery research. Attendees shared their research areas through invited talent poster presentations and open networking sessions.
