Lee Byunghoon, Former Chung-Ang University Sociology Professor, Appointed President of Human Resources Development Service of Korea
The Human Resources Development Service of Korea announced on June 14 that Lee Byunghoon, former professor of sociology at Chung-Ang University, will be inaugurated as its 17th president.
The term of office for the new president will run for three years, from June 15, 2026, to June 14, 2029.
He graduated from the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University and earned both his master's and doctoral degrees in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University in the United States. From March 2000 to August 2023, he served as a professor in the Department of Sociology at Chung-Ang University, focusing on research and education in labor and employment.
He has also served as chairman of the Public Interest Solidarity Foundation, chairperson of the Platform Labor Social Dialogue Forum, chairperson of the Public Institution Committee at the Economic, Social and Labor Council, and associate research fellow at the Korea Labor Institute, actively contributing to the fields of labor market and social dialogue.

The new president stated, "It is important to raise public awareness and trust in the HRD services provided by the organization," adding, "I will do my utmost to effectively respond to the risks of job replacement and extinction amid industrial restructuring driven by the AI transformation (AX)."
