A Fox Sports reporter went to the same restaurant Son Heungmin had visited and did a live broadcast, interviewing a staff member named Alan from the taco shop. Alan said, "I was extremely excited inside, but we were instructed to remain calm," adding, "The players were very polite and kind."
He continued, "Thanks to that, I was able to keep working, and in the end, I even got their autographs. I was especially happy to have the chance to meet Son Heungmin."
According to Alan, Son Heungmin’s group ordered tacos al pastor with guacamole and tacos arrachera with beef. He also shared in detail that Son Heungmin asked for the guacamole without cilantro.
The reporter commented, "Son Heungmin really enjoyed the tacos with lime and sauce, finishing his plate in no time." The reporter also joked, "I hope this break provides the players with both physical and mental refreshment—and that the tacos don’t upset their stomachs."
Upon hearing the news, some Mexican netizens expressed disappointment, saying, "The taco place Son Heungmin visited is not the best in Mexico," and "Street tacos are much tastier and cheaper than franchise shops."
Meanwhile, the Korean national team defeated the Czech Republic 2-1 with consecutive goals by Hwang Inbeom and Oh Hyunkyoo in their first group stage match on June 12, and will play their second group match against Mexico at Guadalajara Stadium on June 19 at 10 a.m.
