Early Summer Weather at Noon... Thunderstorms and Rain Expected on Sunday
On Saturday, June 13, daytime temperatures across the country are expected to reach up to 32 degrees Celsius, bringing "early summer" weather.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the highest daytime temperatures in most regions nationwide on this day are forecasted to range between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius.
The expected high temperatures for major cities are as follows: 31 degrees in Seoul, Suwon, and Daejeon; 29 degrees in Incheon, Gangneung, Gwangju, and Ulsan; 30 degrees in Sejong; 32 degrees in Daegu; 27 degrees in Busan; and 26 degrees in Jeju.
Central regions and North Gyeongsang Province are expected to be mostly clear, while southern regions except for North Gyeongsang Province will have many clouds.
On this day, some areas in Jeolla Province are expected to see showers between noon and 9 p.m. The expected precipitation is 5 to 30 millimeters in Gwangju, South Jeolla, and North Jeolla.
On Sunday, June 14, morning lows are forecasted to range between 15 and 20 degrees, and daytime highs between 25 and 31 degrees. Rain is expected in various parts of the country. Showers are forecasted for central regions, North Jeolla, northern South Jeolla, and western inland Gyeongsang. Rain will continue until late at night in southeastern Gyeonggi and southern inland Gangwon. In particular, strong showers of around 20 millimeters per hour are expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, South Chungcheong, and Jeolla regions. Due to the nature of these showers, there could be significant differences in precipitation even within the same area.
The expected precipitation from showers is 5 to 50 millimeters in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and Jeolla regions, and 5 to 30 millimeters in inland Gangwon and Gyeongsang regions.
In Jeju, less than 5 millimeters of rain is expected overnight on June 14.
In areas experiencing showers, there may also be gusty winds, thunder, and lightning. On June 14, hail may also occur in some regions, so it is important to manage facilities and pay attention to safety to prevent accidents.
On this day, dense fog with visibility less than 1 kilometer is expected to form mainly in Incheon, Gyeonggi, South Chungcheong, eastern North Jeolla, and South Jeolla regions.
In some island areas, heavy fog with visibility less than 200 meters and drizzle are expected.
