Chinese Man in His 40s Who Killed Supermarket Owner Had Stolen from Same Store a Month Earlier
Arrested and Referred to Prosecution on Charges of Robbery-Murder and Theft
A man in his 40s who killed a supermarket owner and fled with cash was found to have committed theft at the same store a month earlier.
According to Yonhap News Agency on June 12, the Michuhol Police Station in Incheon announced that it has referred a Chinese national in his 40s, identified as A, who has been arrested on charges of robbery and murder, to the prosecution with an additional charge of theft.
On June 6, at around 9 p.m., A is accused of killing the store owner, a man in his 70s identified as B, by striking him with a blunt weapon at a supermarket in Dohwa-dong, Michuhol-gu, and then fleeing with 700,000 won in cash.
A is also suspected of stealing approximately 2 million won in cash from the same supermarket at around 9 p.m. on May 9.
At the time, the police launched an investigation after receiving a theft report, but reportedly were unable to identify the suspect.
The police believe that A targeted the supermarket because it sells lottery tickets and tends to hold a large amount of cash on Saturdays when winning numbers are announced.
