The AI recognized the cheering citizens in real time at Gwanghwamun Square, generated supportive messages and visual effects, and displayed them on the screen.
Pre-recorded cheering Reels videos and support messages from citizens were also showcased on the on-site media wall. Lee Dongjae, Head of KT's Sports Marketing Team, said, "We focused on expanding citizen participation in our planning," adding, "Citizens can experience becoming the main agents of support through the shared voices and energy throughout the site."
KT has been the official partner of the Korean national football team since 2001. During the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, KT launched the "Korea Team Fighting" campaign, and from the 2006 Germany World Cup onwards, began actively participating in street cheering events at Gwanghwamun Square alongside the Red Devils. KT contributed to developing the Gwanghwamun Square street cheering event into a representative civic festival by producing official Red Devils’ cheering songs such as "Reds Go Together" and "For Victory," as well as holding campus guerrilla events.
In 2010, KT was present for Korea’s first advancement to the Round of 16 at an away World Cup in South Africa, and in 2018, it supported a stable 5G-based broadcasting environment for the Russia World Cup. For the 2022 Qatar World Cup, despite the unique challenge of early morning winter matches, KT worked to create a safe environment for citizens to cheer. KT explained that, once again, it deployed more than 250 security guards, safety personnel, and medical staff on site, and operated an integrated control room within its building to monitor the situation in real time, ensuring safety measures were thoroughly implemented. The KT Gwanghwamun Square cheering event will continue on June 19 and June 25.

A highlight among the experience programs is the "AI Conversion (AX) Robot Drawing," where an AI robot instantly creates caricatures based on photos of visitors. "AX Photo Assist" is another popular feature, allowing visitors to use the photo assist function of the Samsung Galaxy S26 to take selfies and generate and print images with football-themed prompts.
Additionally, when entering Onmaru, visitors can type in support messages for the players, which are then displayed as an art wall on the large screen. Visitors can also attach patches to their red clothing or scarves to create cheering goods, or make keyrings. Other exhibits include signed national team uniforms, trophies, and the AX Gallery showcasing the history of Korean football.
